OT: Deskpins - Get 'em!

OK, whilst I take a breather from being overly enthusiastic ( thanks Vic! Lol!) about Vegas7 and for all us SKYPE users, - 2 words "DESK PINS". Yes, this small, neat and petite freeware utility has made my SKYPE experience complete.

Why?

Well one thing that IS missing from doing a SKYPE session is its inability to KEEP the SKYPE window on top, so yah don't loose your chum/co-worker/co-designer/therapist/councillor/senator . . or whatever, when you click on another vital window.

I was doing a SKYPE session with one of our SONY Vegas Forum friends yesterday and whilst he was showing-off his cute SONY camera to me, we had the "SKYPE-Vanishing-Window" syndrome. And I said . ."Aha! DESKPINS" . . downloaded, PINNED and the SKYPE window stays on top.

Was this an OT post? Come to think of it maybe not. Making life easier for me/you/us, while sharing creative ideas across the planet, has gotta be one of the crucial reasons why we bother to do any of this stuff - yeah?

OK, OK, Roll up roll up! Get your yah yahs here! oops, listening to the Stones . . I mean get yah DESKPINS here

That would be me. ;-)

That would be my new Sony HVR-A1 that I got from B&H for $1800 USD after Sony $500 rebate! (sweet deal. If you want to get into HD, this is the ticket. The price is right and while it’s not as good as my HVR-Z1 in low light, it’s still a very nice HD cammy that I can even take on vacation after removing the audio unit and lens hood.)

Yup, it was like an infomercial with Grazie as the host. :-D

In fact, I was using them last night as I was updating some documentation. I placed the plug-in I was documenting on my secondary monitor and had Word opened up on the primary, but every time I clicked something on the plug-in, the entire Vegas interface would be brought to the front covering my Word document. ARGH! Then I thought, DeskPins! I pinned the Word document so I could easily interact with the plug-in and the document at the same time. Brilliant!

Thanks a million Grazie. Writing documentation just got a whole lot easier. I second the motion. Get DeskPins! You won’t know how you lived without ‘em.

Very clever and simple idea.
