OT: Display live DV stream full screen?

My church has a "PowerPoint" PC and projector. The connection between them is 15 pin analog VGA. For a special event (this Sunday) I want to run a firewire DV stream from my sony DV camcorder into the PC, and have it displayed full screen so that it shows up on the projector.

(Due to mounting, cabling and control, I don't have any way to get an S-video signal from the camcorder to the projector.)

Can anyone give me a pointer to cheep or free software that can display a live firewire DV stream full screen?

Thanks,

John.

Added info: The PC already has a firewire card and Vegas + DVD installed. It can capture AVI without problems, so I'm pretty sure the camcorder to PC part of the puzzle is OK.

J.

I've tried to do this many times, and even on my 2.8 GHz computer, I can't get smooth, live playback. Scenalyzer lets you size the window almost full screen, but the playback is still a little jerky.

I will be very interested to see if anyone else has a good idea on this one.

I had your problem myself a few weeks back: a projector with only a VGA connector (no composite or S-video).

If you have time, you can convert your video to MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 and use a software DVD player on the laptop. If you use DVD-quality MPEG-2, the quality should be excellent.

Thanks John,

I appreciate your warning about Scenalyzer. I've gone the DVD route you suggest in the past and it has worked really well.

I'm still hoping for a magic bullet to help with "live" video feed.

John.
