I've written a script and wanted to test out some dialogue I thought about getting actors but decided it would be easier just to play the parts myself as its just a test. What I would like is peoples opinion on whether the dialogue is working. I realize its difficult as it starts partway through but the idea is Casti an Italian Priest has lost the girl he was protecting from gave danger. Gorman head of MI6 has found her and although doesnt trust Casti has good news for him.

Seeing this out of context makes a judgement difficult. If there has been nothing to set the scene for Gorman's attitude I find it unconvincing. If he is hoping to clarify doubts I would expect him to move from politeness through examination to threat. He seems weak and undecided within this brief scene.

Okay thanks for looking Serena yes I know it may be difficult to make a judgement especially as you haven't seen the previous scenes. I know you 've already stated Gorman comes across as weak and thats a fair point but just to clarify a little bit more and What the question really is is do the lines come across as real? Try to imagine youve walked into a conversation halfway through where you know nothing about the situation?

I was trying to hear it in that way. I suppose any dialogue imagined could be spoken in a real situation, so from that point of view it's all OK. However in terms of drama I think Gorman's words are unconvincing, but depending on that gone before that emptiness might be just what you want. But the priest is speaking as if Gorman is someone of whom he must be careful. "All things considered ... I'm still not happy" sounds conflicting. "I have misgivings, but all things considered, I accept your assurances" is perhaps a more natural phrasing. Obviously much precedes this scene, for otherwise nothing could be "considered". Not much help, I'm afraid!
