Sometimes it seems to me that I can see the DV compression artifacts on
nature/grass shots taken with my VX2000. I think I can see mosquito netting and fringing. Am I insane?
While it is true that the 50 mbps 4:2:2 formats must have better color, do they also have less mosquito netting?
The weird thing with these artifacts is they mostly disappear if you watch them on a TV.
Most recording studios used to (maybe still do if they're wise) have two sets of monitors. One set as flat as tack over the whole audio range, the others, typical car radio speakers.
It can pay to feed a signal into a TV through a composite input. Some things will get better, a lot will get worse.
