OT: DVD Bitrate question...

Making a DVD, I am using VBR. Using Bitrate Viewer on my final product, the file turns out to be average of 6.6MBPS, with a peak at 8.1MBPS. This video will have PCM sound. When PCM sound is factored in, does this come anywhere near going above the DVD spec? I don't want crappy DVD players choking on too high of a bitrate.

Thanks so much in advance.

PCM audio on a DVD is about 1.465Mbps. Add that to 8.1 and you get 9.565Mbps, which is still below the 9.8Mbps. However, playback will rarely hit the peak so DVD players shouldn't have any problem keeping up.

Just curious, why PCM instead of AC3?

It's a music video DVD, and a lot of home stereo systems won't allow you to play AC3 in All Channel Stereo. PCM will and it sounds way better for music.
