OT: DVD Profiler - Very useful and free!

I just downloaded and installed the free version of DVD Profiler 2.4 last night and I must say I am quite impressed.

Ever since Hollywood Video (I boycott Blockbuster) began selling used DVDs for between 5 for $15 and 3 for $25 and I built a home theater projection system, I have aquired more DVDs than I had ever imagined owning. I literally didn't know what to do with them all let alone organize them.

With this software one simply has to periodically update the DVD database (one click accesses the internet) and then type in the UPC on the back of the DVD. It then pulls up the title, release date, genre, description, actors list, rating, DVD cover images etc immediately and groups it according to the way you listed in your preferences.

It is infinetely customizable, you can print and sort the list using any of four "report" presets, and you can download and install hundreds of other reports created and posted on their website by users of the software.

It is logically and intuitively laid out and if the database doesn't contain the DVD UPC code you can search it by title and customize it. For example if the UPC doesn't pull up a Full Screen version you happen to own you can take the widescreen version and edit the details including the UPC to create the Full Screen version. You can even add it to their database provided you follow the standardized format used in the industry.

There is a $30 premium version that gets rid of the ads that quite frankly don't seem to be a distraction IMO. Also, these DVD sleeves by Discsox seem like a space saver. Maybe a little more expensive though.
