If they are not copy protected, just drag the VIDEO_TS folder from the DVD onto a folder on the hard drive.

The DVD rippers remove copy protection whilst copying the DVD files to the hard drive.

I should have clarified one thing. I looking for a program that will rip the DVD into AVI, WMV or some other common video file format. I now have a ripper (thank you) that dumps VOB files to my hard drive, I can open them with Vegas and convert them, but I'm trying to get this done for a friend and emailing VOB files won't work. I want to give him something that will do this and he doesn't have technical skills or Vegas. Movie maker does not like VOB files.

tmpgenc will probley do this, but i'd just batch render the wmv's for him for simplicity. there are free video encoders but pretty much no matter what it'll be a two step process.

pjrey, Something about that Super site seems funny. There are pages and pages of hype and links but you have to wade through a ton of it just to find the download link. Smells of spyware or something. Have you actually tried this software? Is it clean?

You want to eMail him video files from a DVD?
Wow. You are really gonna have to think that one through. How will you get them small enough to be eMailable & still be viewable?

YouSendIt.com may help you a little with the Sending part.

sync2rhythm , No I do NOT want to send him files. I want to send him a link to a simple program that will let him do it himself so he can post some old videos online. He does not have vegas else it would be a simple matter of editing down the VOB files directly. And I have enough pro-bono work to keep me busy...
