Oh sure now it is $11 LESS.

Does it have full ink or starter cartridges?

I do like it better than my EZCD printer.

hehehe... I ordered this yesterday. :) It has all 6 ink carts.

I'm doing some DVD duplication work for the local school, so I charged them for it (& the 100 DVD's & cases. I get all the leftovers!)

My first nice printer! YEAH!

I ordered one as well and it's arrived today. Works beautifully. Much better looking than a sticker. A good deal.

Meritline has Ritek G04 4x inkjet-printable media for around $.70 each in bulk. I have burned over 1000 of them and nort a bad disc yet.

When I go there, it says $99. Wonder what the new replacement for this model will be like!

Guys:

I just got one of these printers (Early Father's Day present!!!) and tested it on an old bogus CD; not a printable surface. I just wanted to see the *action* of the CD/DVD tray.

It's taking a looooong time to dry, understandably.

Question: When used on a *printable* CD/DVD surface, does it dry reasonably quickly?

The manual says to let it dry 24 hours before using. This seems a little excessive.

I did a few photos and it is absolutely outstanding.

FYI: At our Walgreens, digital prints are 0.29 each. I calculated this printer to run about 0.56 each. Ink sure seems expensive...

I touched a Ridata 4x InkJet DVD a few seconds AFTER it finished printed, and it was OK.

However, I' didn't out in my DVD player until about 24 hours. Just to be safe. :)

Got it.

Thanks.

It's still not dry, so I think I get the message. The surface of the non-printable CD is just plain out not accepting the ink. Again, just a test.

I have always been a laserjet person, so I'm new to this inkjet stuff. Thanks for the info!

I have a Epson 900 which is somwewhat similar. If you use good quality printable discs you should be able to take them right out of the printer and put them in a drive without any problems. I do it all the time. Just make sure you aren't printing in the center hub where there isn't a printable surface. If ink gets on there and then you put it in a drive it will run all over the rest of your disc. That's why I always leave a small gap usually 1/8" on the outer and inner ring so this doesn't happen.

what's the diffreence between the silver & white inkjet disks? Is it just one is colored silver & thie other white, or do they have a different material on top of the disks for printing?
richard-courtney wrote on 6/13/2004, 8:07 PM
In general I would use the white. I made a 4th of July disk that actually
looked better in silver as a flag background was "silk like".

Black ink only designs do have an interesting look over white.

Do you know if Ritek makes an inkjet printable "silver" G04 media? I can't seem to find it from my regular suppliers. There are times when I just want a plain silver disc with black text only.

I haven't seen any from Ritek....Taiyo Yuden makes good silver printable discs, a little better quality also.

Just remember one thing, you will need to buy the USB cable to connect it because it's not included with the printer.

About Picoliter size. Is it the lower or higher the number better and why? thanks.
dvdude wrote on 6/14/2004, 1:57 PM
Smaller is better. It refers to the droplet size, Don't get too hung up on it though.
