have a cheapo quad system we bought a bout a year ago, no issues
the thing runs great, had a lightning storm and blew the on board audio card,
under warranty got a new motherboard now the fan runs loud anytime i render, never did that before, normal ?
was it messed up before repair and should have kicked the fan up, or now after repair
thanks

How hot is the CPU getting?
Could be bad contact between heatsink and chip. Some CPUs / heatsinks come with preapplied thermal paste and a thin film of protective plastic that has to be removed before mating heatsink to CPU.

HOT!!!! downloaded speedfan and under render cores are reading around 80C , dont know what it ran before repair, but the fan was not running like it is now, thing is running stable ,but shut er down and going to spend the afternoon talking to hp tech crying for an rga before she blows,

I think Bob ( farss) is on to something..

The stock Intel heatsink is notorious for not locking into place.

A loose corner will send your temps sky-high ...

The Intel Quads (at least the first ones, like my QX6700 from November, 2006) can run run really hot. I have it only slightly overclocked (from 2.66 to some 2.96 GHz), and with auto Vcore, and yet after a couple of minutes rendering in Vegas (with Task Manager showing between 90-100% CPU usage), it achieves and stabilizes around 80-85 deg C, as well.

But the Tjuction temp is 100 deg C, so I think no reason to worry.
