Generally, OK.

It seemed arbitrary which pics had motion added. I would suggest to add at least a bit of motion to all of them. A few of the shots were not very good where you could see no faces or they were obsecured. Many had poor composition that you could have corrected.

Thanks for your comments Gary. You can also post over on the
http://www.vegasusers.com/vidshare/ site, that might be better than continuing on this forum.
Although I did not take most of the pictures I am wondering if you could elaborate on correcting the composition of the shots. Cropping perhaps?
As far as motion goes I am still developing a feel for how much is or isn't appropriate.
Thanks again and I hope to see your reply over on the other site!

It's Version 2!
I've reworked this project due in part to all the feedback I received.
Take a look and see if you agree (or not) that it's a noticable improvement.

nice clip, I have been messing around producing slideshows with simple programs like sonic mydvd, Ive only just started using vegas to produce slide shows becasue i like the freedom it can give me interms of picture lenght and soundfx i can add in.
After seeing your clip I love the way youve used motion? something i havent seen before (how you zoom around the photo or zoom in or out of it, rotate etc) i think its great.

Id love to learn how to do that can you point me in the right direction ?

meanwhile on your clip i thought some pix were out of placeabout 3/4 of the way thru there were some pix of girls that werent dressed casually or seemed like they were pix taken before the formalities ??

anyway nice slideshow !

regards
jc

like to learn how to do thatbecause Id like to add a soundtrack with some sfx to the mix and make some pix longer that

On the right track Mark.

<begin arm twisting mode>

I think still a little slower on some of the zooming, still some a bit rushed. Aside from that I think the tempo is about right now, better cropping, framing.

Jamie:

Read the section on keyframes. Zooming and panning is really very simple in Vegas and involves just a few steps.

a. click on the pan/crop button at end of event (top icon)
b. move the bouding box to where you want the first frame to start.
c. adjust the size either by entering values directly or moving in on a corner to zoom in.
d. set a key frame.
e. repeat steps b-c-d where you want the pan and/or zoom to end. Set another keyframe.

Vegas will fill in the blanks. Other controls set smoothness, rotation. If a photo don't forget to set aspect ratio in the FX filter work area. Pick match aspect ratio. The typical effect will be for the image to balloon in size. What you probably want for panning and zooming if you want to show only a part of an image then slowly pan. If you need to get more fancy you can set in-between keyframes. Mostly you won't need or want to unless you're doing something more complex like following a road on a roadmap. See an older example on the video share site I did about a year ago.

Jamcas,
Thanks for your comments. The pictures were, for the most part, in chronological order.
The groom for example dressed "down" quickly after the actual ceremony as did some others. That may be what you noticed.
BillyBoy gave some good direction to get you started, namely Pan and Crop to set things in motion.
More comments welcome on the video sharing site.

Mark,

your clip inspired me to do more with my slide shows, billy thanks for the pionters, ive figured it out and got it working.

if i have two similiar photos can i morph from one to another instead of cross fading ?

regards
jaime

Morphing is more involved that fading in one image over another or some other transition where one image simply replaces the other over time. In true morphing, you set points on image A and the applicaton uses these points to guide it to change the object in B. Satish offers a free morphing application.
