OT : FINALLY got a new site!!!

MUTTLEY wrote on 6/18/2009, 7:45 AM
I've had my old site for years, built it myself way back when and began hating it within the first year. For the last two years or so I think it would be safe to say I came to loath it, so much so I was sending people everywhere else to look at my stuff and not even giving out my url. At long last I've had a complete redesign and though the color scheme is similar to the old one it's pretty much brand spankin new from the ground up. It went live within the last 24 hours and thought I'd pass on the info, I hadta show it off somewhere! I'm sure the look won't be to everyone's liking but totally fits me and my clientele. I'd be thrilled if during a dull inspired moment some of ya gave it a little lookise. =)

Pretty dang excited!

Looks nice Ray. I thought the hands free segway was pretty neat. Nice eye candy all around. Giddy as a school girl eh? Speaking of site redesigns.... mine is due and I have been delaying it for lack of motivation on that front.

Congrats though- it looks great!

I love the interactive lower third!
Great job! Can I borrow a few ideas, LOL?

Great looking site (and excellent performance as well). I develop websites myself and was wondering how you like using Wordpress? I've considered using it for a couple of clients, but didn't go that route for one reason or another.

Again -- great site and wonderful content :-)

Thanks all, and yea, I love the lower third and the button for people to Skype!

Loving WP so far Jim, one of the things I hated about my old site was that it was so much work updating, making new pages, adding links to the new pages, embedding new vids/pics etc, encoding, uploading, blah ... I wanted something that I wouldn't have to bust out Dreamweaver to make changes. That and the integration with my other social media sites sold me. Still a few things I'd like to implement but haven't figured out how to yet but overall love it!

The only quibble I have is that it is slightly squeezed because my screen resolution is 1440x900.

Great work!

I get two totally different viewing experiences depending on whether I access it in FireFox or Internet Explorer, is this by design?

Ray,

If you resize from small to big, the window in IE7 the "highlight" on the lower third winds up far to the left when it was originally on the first choice on the bottom lower third.

Just thought I would let you know.

Im seeing some strange light blue boxes around some of the text that makes it near impossible for my old eyes to read.

For instance, there is a box around "So what is UGP". I can't read any of the text below in that block.

Is that intended or a browser issue?

I'm running IE8 (at 1680 x 1050) and the site looks and behaves great. I've checked it out on my secondary monitor (1024 x 768) and no problems there either.

Very hip. I'd like to see some samples of your steady cam work.

how did you find the switch between dw and wordpress?

i ask since i do a fair bit in dw and am wondering if i have the energy / head to start on wordpress....

I'm really liking WP though I'm not real comfortable yet, borderline paranoid! Just like anything else though I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. If youre comfy with Dreamweaver I wouldnt suggest ya change but in the long run I think it'll be a huge timesaver.

As for your issues Jeff (and anyone else having issues or glitctchy stuff) would ya mind posting a screencap? Would be helpful to try and troubleshoot instead of flying blind.

Video (and the whole site) looked very polished. What do you call that stringed instrument he (Zhenya) played? And how about the bass version of it. Looks exotic. Does he just keep those instruments in his van?

I was also impressed with you 'Underground Video' logo at the beginning.

Thanks. =)

It's called a Balalaika, basically just a big one and a little one, really neat stuff and he works the hell outta those three strings!
