OT: Firewire 2 ?

Does anybody remember this - F/W2? Is it gonna happen? Has it died? Has USB2 overtaken?

Hi Grazie. The new Macs have FW800, which is double the speed of the usual 1394 FW400. Is this the same as FW2? There are also a few high end firewire sound modules that run on FW800. Haven't seen any sign of it on PCs yet.

I'm no Mac-Head, so not knowledgeable about such "fruity" things .. but I kinda remembered this when last week, in an attempt to do some retail IT therapy, Grazie was found wandering around the shelves of PC World -UBER ALLES! - and asking about standard ext f/w drives. Reply: "Oh no, we don't stock THEM! - But we do have USB2. We are upgrading to USB2!" . . I felt as if I'd just farted in public!

Anyways, it was this that made me ask the question. F/w=1 USB=2. F/w bad . .USB2 Good! . .Bit like the Sheep in Animal Farm!
