The general consensus has always been that if you get one with the TI chipset you'll be fine. Also, at least through WinXP, the best advice was to throw away the driver that came with the card and let Windows install it's own. I don't know that that still applies with Win7 and newer.
[edit] Don't bother to read this post. After I hit send, I re-read the OP's post to make sure I answered all of his questions and realized he wants a PCI card, not a laptop PC Card. [/end edit]
+1 on the recommendation for the SIIG PCIe card. I have had issues with other cards but the SIIG cards have always performed flawlessly. I run them in all my machines.
And I agree with Chienworks, let Windows install the driver. Just pop the card in and when windows starts it'll install the drivers and that should be the last time you ever think about that card.
