Would a FW router perhaps do it for you? There are plenty of these available. They usually feature 3 to 5 ports, you connect all your FW devices to it, use one of the ports to connect to your pc, and then use software switching to select the device you want.

Bas, that may be a possibility but what I'm really looking for is something simple like this FireWire Smart Switcher but without the $215.00 price tag.

Thanks Dave T2. That's more along the lines of what I meant.
Once you clued me into using "firewire a/b switch" as a search term, I found this box all over the place.
It even came up on a post I made to the rec.video.desktop newsgroup back in 2004 looking for the same device.
Guess what? It was the same price back then :-)
