$9,999.99.9 (Note the extra .9, like on gasoline prices...) :)

Go to dvinfo.net and there's a whole forum devoted to it. I'm right with you, it's got some great specs. But, it really really needs a real lens with real focus, not a continuous spinning thing. I thought it would have variable frame rates for true fast/slow motion, but it may not.
The big problem is I don't believe Vegas can edit DVC Pro HD, but hopefully that will change soon.

Some more info out now -

The AG-HVX200 inherits many of the functions of the popular VariCam, which enhanced the production of movies and TV programs.

Also able to record Standard Definition in the DVCPRO50, DVCPRO and DV formats, the AG-HVX200 supports migration from the entire DVCPRO family of equipment to the total IT experience. All 1080, 720, and 480 signals support 24p and 30p frame rates.

Also, Video data can be recorded on a P2 card as MXF files that can be downloaded to a nonlinear editing system or server or edited straight from the P2 card.

• Cam-driven manual zoom, focus ring, and aperture dial

Rumour is that it is $6,000. Check the DVinfo.net site for details.

$6K for the cam, possibly. But then you have all the P2 cards which are very expensive. Still sounds nice to have.
BrianStanding wrote on 4/18/2005, 9:27 AM
Looks like it does DV tape, too. So you can buy the cards later.

The talk on DVInfo is that it can record DV to miniDV tape - built in. All other streams can record directly to P2 card or external hard drive.

Doesnt that sound silly though. Why spend $6K to shoot DV? If you hold off and wait for the prices to come down on the P2 cards, surely the camera will come down in price as well.

Buy a couple of p2 cards and your shooting HD at under 50k doesnt sound silly to me

Here is more info off of Pany's official site.
Looks like one hell of a camera if it stays in the 6-8- k range!
