OT - Forum Load/Speed Stoned on Valium - Again

And I know, I know...
I'm just recycling the usual complaint over the years

This platform seems to kind of schizoid. For a few days recently, things were finally zippy, even unusually fast it seems. Now, back to the old same-old. And, yes, as mentioned in a recent thread on this subject, visiting anonymously/not being logged in is much faster -- though the list of postings is shorter by default. But there is no point in not being logged in: one can't post or reply to posts.

I don't understand why such a large corporation as Sony can't seem to get it together on such a simple platform (far less script-heavy than most BBS boards). They can run Columbia Pictures, TriStar and a whole fleet of high-tech enterprises but... a teeny weeny forum platform for audio-video eggheads seems to be beyond their technical expertise.

C'est la vie in the digital age of human imperfections, I guess.

Yeah, the zippy forum was pretty short lived, it's slower today than it's even been.

And for a new twist, it just triple-posted my last message.

Indeed noticed the triple delay reverb-echo effect, John_Cline. Somebody or something somewhere is popping some pills and/or getting very distracted by some long female legs walking by their cubicle or brushing up against their mobo...

It's so slow that even trying to typo-correct this post took forever - lol.

Sony's server disconnected on me four times this morning, and double-posted as well.

I never see server disconnects and almost never get a timeout from any other Top 10,000 address in the US (sonycreativesoftware.com is # 8,028 as of today).

There have been at least six threads on this problem in the last three years, four in 2010 alone. A commitment by Sony to make the fix was made in early 2008.

Sony is one of the richest companies on earth. This is just bad business.

According to the brand new Sticky on the main page, the SCS site will be shut down for 12 hours from 7PM CDT Friday to 7AM CDT Saturday. There was a post from SCS some months ago that said they would be seriously upgrading their hosting and server situation sometime "in the future." I guess the future is Friday night.

Well, let's hope it results in... uh, results.
Not quite as slow as a couple of day ago, but still no Ferrari.

Looks like I'll be turning in early tonight.
Visions of sugarplums and a snappy website.

"Looks like I'll be turning in early tonight. My experience with major systems changes is that it often gets worse before it gets better. I'm guessing on Saturday morning we're going to be saying "WTF", but by next Wednesday things will be better. Hope I'm wrong.
