OT: Gotta love it. A DIY camera controller

Check out this guy's remote Lanc controller substitute. He took the camera's standard infrared remote and mounted an optical SPDIF cable to it and attached the other end of the cable to a reflector near the camera's infrared sensor. Now instead of an expensive Lanc controller with limited functions he can operate all functions built into the standard remote from his tripod.

one of the nice things with the FX and Z is they have a IR sensor in the back as well as the front. so many functions on a tri can be performed with the remote from behind. Depending on the situation of course.
