An interesting idea... might try it at some point, although it sounds like it must add another (tiny) background process that is running all the time, waiting for the Alt+space shortcut.

One thing I have done is (un-related to this program) is pin a few of my most used apps to the XP start menu (ABOVE the line in the left hand side column). I then rename the shortcut so that it is preceeded by a number. eg

"1 Vegas"
"2 Soundforge"
"3 Acid"
"4 Word"
"5 netstumbler"
"6 VNC"

Then I just hit the Windows key to open the start menu followed by the number of the App I want to launch. This works because windows will select and launch the item starting with a unique (to the start menu) letter or number. (which is why not having numbers and pressing "v" would cycle between Vegas and VNC, but not launch either until you hit return key)

I put shortcuts for all the SONY applications, my favorite photo editor, Mozilla, Trillian, and Media Player in the quick launch area of Window's task bar. I never know which ones i'm going to need on any particular day, but they're all there a single click away.

same here. Fast to get to, always visible.

Yeah, I keep a couple of things there, but I don't like to fill that space up because it takes up valuable taskbar room.

I keep it with the following shortcuts:

Show Desktop
Internet Explorer
My Computer

Sometimes I put a shortcut to the folder of the project I'm working on so that I have 'instant' access to it. This was helpful on the tour I just did where all the tour docs where inside one folder, with that folders shortcut on Quicklaunch.

I use a very configurable program called Traybar.

Yes the low side of these tools is that you get another background process - however it's work in progress as far as i get the impression from the website, so perhaps it'll improve over time. It surely won't be the last of handy tools but as said it can save you some mouse clicks

One of the cool thing of Launchy is you can also add file types like .veg and start your projects through the same "alt + space" shortcut by typing the name of your project.
