The great cinematographer Haskell Wexler's biodocumentary flick is now on DVD.

It's called TELL THEM WHO YOU ARE, and was shot by Wexler's son, Mark Wexler. (Can you imagine having a famous cinematographer for a dad, and having to photograph him? It'd give me the willies.)

I saw the film at the theater and was quite impressed by Wexler---and the father-son dynamics were something to witness, for sure.

The DVD is available via Blockbuster online, if you're a subscriber. Not sure about Netflix but I'd imagine they'd have it as well.

having a famous cinematographer for a dad would put me in a better spot to interview him than not being related.

I interviewed a two time Academy Award winner (cinematography) and was scared to death to light him. Not a word. In fact he really liked my light set up and made some good examples out of it during the interview. I'd rather face near death in loads of other ways then have to do that again :)

Highly recommended. An incredibly perceptive view into the life and career of one of the most influential cinematographers of the 20th century.
