I don't think it is sad that you are holding out- it is wise. I will wait until the prices drop considerably or until I have enough customers wanting it that it will pay for itself.
I think the BluRay versus HD format war is far from decided. Just because BluRay is technically superior it's no guarantee that it will "win" (BetaMax was technically better than VHS, right?).
If the players, recorders, and BluRay recording media prices are significantly more expensive than HD (I don't know where the threshold is... my guess is around 20-30%) many people may decide that HD is good enough and forgo the technically superior product.
Lets hope that Sony has their act together on this one... (but so far I don't think the signs are good).
like i keep saying.. until i can go to the video shop and hire a HD DVD or BD, THATS when im going to start worrying about HD for my clients and for my own entertainment...
I just thought this was interesting considering the selection of titles put to HD so far..
Of that list, i think i have maybe 4 of those movies already on HD WMV (for media player/media centre) which cost me like 60bux each so i could demo these HD panels that we have here..
The bigest factor i think surrounding al this would be the choice in Dolby Digital audio encoded format. If they stick with standard 5.1 ex, theyre wont be any issues with capacity of the HD-DVD format. DD ex is usually less than a gb for up to 2.5 hrs or so @ 448kbps... even less in fact.. however, if theyre opt for Dolby Digital True HD, this is where itll all fall down for HD-DVD, as 12gb will be alocated for the audio only... and thn your left with 12gb allocation for video.. on the flipside, on BD, you will have the option to allocate 25gb to the audio, and a further 25gb for the video.. for True HD content, (as in bit for bit encoded audio in comparison to video) BD DL will definately be abenefit simply for the capacity.
Now judging by the blurbs on this site, it seems that the players themselves will have some type of network connection or even a registry requirement...
Im looking into this, but i am yet to recieve a reply from my sources..
