OT High-Def 3D is here now

The NBA ran a High-Def 3D test to a small closed audiance (yes, with glasses) and the reviews were spectacular. They will run another High-Def 3D closed feed on the second finals game to the Cleveland Quicken Arena for thousands of paid customers who get the glasses with ticket purchases. Special cameras are used in addition to the standard HD cameras. Local television interviewed the techs setting up the projection equipment. More bandwidth, more bandwidth, and more bandwidth and more ram.

maybe in HD 3d fans will finally be able to see that LeBronze James really has no basketball skills whatsoever, and just ( barely ) gets by on hype and athleticism?.

Didn't know they'd run this. Very cool. They shot some of this sort of footage at The Dump (used to be the Delta Center) with the Utah Jazz. Saw them shooting, but haven't seen the footage yet. I talked to one of the camera ops, who said the same about bandwidth, but also talked about how much the NBA is investing in this kind of production. Seems like it's got long-term legs, no doubt.

I don't understand. If the camera stays wide enough to not induce nausea, then I would have assumed there would be little stereoscopic effect. Perhaps seeing is believing; I'd love to try it out.

The camera in question is made by Pace 3D Technologies: www.pacehd.com. It produces two HD-SDI streams which need to be carried from one place to another, whilst maintaining sync.

Curious if this system uses a conventional monitor or HDTV set for viewing? AVS forum saying there are (4) 20 x 40 foot screens and 4 projectors. They said even the test patterns looked great and the glasses are of high quality.

Samsung says they have a bunch of DLP HDTV's that are 3D compatible right now with glasses.
