Kkolbo, Looks like a little take off on Saw? Nice. I watched it just one time through and the flow seemed very natural - no jump cuts or other glaring issues. Now I've gone back and watched it again with a more critical eye trying to find problems.... still looks great to me. I like the lighting effect going on, was that natural or staged? I'm interested to know what's going on with the person face down with the mime mask.... Mmmm what could it be? How about some background on the storyline?

You are correct. It is a parody of the opening set up from Saw. This is a part of a larger video on the student code of conduct for our school. The video opens with a another Saw parody here.

The new segment is about the dress code. That is why the dead body is surrounded by items forbidden by the dress code like masks and hats. We can't do blood pools (district rules) so the scarves and such represent the blood.

The segment story is the character, male, wakes up and finds he is chained up with the female character. The cell phone rings and our villain "Mardi Gras" tells them they are out of dress code and they have fifteen seconds to correct it. They then review ther dress code checking each other frantically. In the end they run out of time. Mardi Gras tells them that they loose, they are still wearing chains (a forbidden item). He then gives the signature "game over" and we see his silhouette close the big door.

The lighting is all staged. All normal lighting in the room has been turned off. A small softbox provides low fill and a 250w pro light is bounced off of the ceiling. An omni and another pro light, both with cookies, provide the highlight break up.

The camera for the opening dolly is on an overhead dolly track since the space was so small to work in. I looked like this.

I hope that answers questions. Thanks for the compliments. That is their rough cut from the day one footage to make sure that it was going to cut together. They still have another day (2 - 3 hours) of shooting left.
