OT: How do I get the Codec for the older movie CD's. I have the SIRIUS Movie CD called "Beyond the Mind's Eye." However the player native to the CD does not install or run on XP and the AVI file requires the codec that installs when the program does.

Is there a way to install the program on an older win ME machine and then port and register the 32 bit codec over to an XP machine? The company is no longer in business and moviecd.com is not open to the general public.

the codec used - btw .. is Motion Pixels video codec (mvi2) and is not listed on 4CC org .

David Whipple and Christian Huygen wrote the codec and it was also used for some games ..

Forget about trying to find it -- you will not .. here is info on it here

A quick websearch reveals someone else asking the same question at http://www.moviecodec.com/topics/4857p1.html. He gets a reply giving a link to a site where you can download the codec - http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/samples/drivers32/motionpixels/

I've not tried it myself (don't have anything encoded using the MotionPixels codec) but it looks like it might work for you.

i believe that is the MVI2 codec , not the MV11 you will need .. or the other way around ..

I recall using mplayer and it didnt work -- but if you can get it to work great..

as i said though - the quality is awful (really really bad) and for 7$ you can get the DVD

MarkWWW,

That was the charm. I only wanted the codec so I could play the CD movie when working in the office but not at the computer. Now it is working. I enjoy Jan Hammer. He is the keyboard player who really wanted to be a guitar player so he plays guitarish things on the keybaord better than many guitarists can.
