I posted this message in a separate thread, but hope to get more 'coverage' as a separate thread.
In the past I have discussed 'Indexing' with Billy Boy. That idea has evolved to this.
We could methodically post topics under specific and agreed upon subject lines. This could be,... How do I (add topic of your choice)..., the topic could be color correction, making still slide shows, use external monitor, decrease render speed, download 'Girlfriend 6.9', etc. The specific reason for that particular,... How do I... thread would be to deposit specific helpful info on that topic. The PRO'S on the forum would hopefully update the info in that thread, post relevant how to's, post relevant thread links, post relevant web links, etc, in order to load up that thread with pertinent info up front on that thread topic. Also, over time a small group of posters would become recognized as experts in that thread topic that reflects their particular expertise and competencies. Over time when a poster posts a question in the forum, we would link to that particular topics, ...How do I...., thread refer the poster to that thread and post the response in that thread. That particular thread would eventually become the archive (index) on that topic. There are dozens of topics that a little organization would help. With the frequency of repeat questions, most common threads would remain in the top few pages, but a search for that specific topic would retrieve an older thread and posting would bring it to the top. This approach would not preclude posting , discussion, and troubleshooting, as it is today, but enhance our ability to refer members to real, relevant info, without spending a weekend searching through multiple pages of previous posts for them or us. Also at the end of a troublshooting session that is resolved, that particular thread should be linked at the end of the ...How do I.. thread to increase its efficiency. I see questions and problems being posted as they are now, but the responses linked or added to the ...HDI...thread.
What do you think? John.
