OT: How to Play DVD player to VGA input

For some reason, I can't find a simple answer to this question...
I have a spare LCD computer monitor and I'd like to hook up a DVD player to play through it. I'll route the sound to a normal amplifier, but......
Would a simple S-video/composite to VGA adapter allow this? Or do I need some ridiculously, expensive contraption?

Well, thats a 'Component' cable, I could use that, but I was thinking more along these lines:

I still haven't seen a positive. "YES, I know this works".

All the descriptions I've read say it works with computers, Laptops TO TVs and Projectors. All I've researched, say computer to TV, but nothing about using a DVD player to an LCD computer monitor.

That cable you linked goes the wrong direction. That is for VGA OUT to SVIDEO,

Sounds like you want an SVDIDEO to VGA, that is more expensive.

Thanks for verifying that. Yeah, that's what I thought.
I finally found a fairly decent unit, with favorable ratings for about $41. including shipping. The trick when searching, was using the term 'Video to VGA converter' Apparently, these are popular with gamers.
All my original search terms were basically S-Video/RCA composite to VGA and those cheap adaptors would come up, but the explanation was always PC to TV.
