In general Sony's remotes are interchangeable, if you know the Sony part number it might be pretty easy to find one at a Sony outlet. The Z1 isn't sold through Sony retail shops which might explain your difficulty, try asking for a remote control part # XYZ and not a remote for a Z1.
Bob.
Oddly enought, there is no part number in the manual. It's identified as a "wireless remote commander." Tried every search I could think of. Thanks for replying, Darryl
If you can wait a while I'll get you the part # off one of ours, they're all hired out at the moment so it'll be 24 hours before I can get my hands on one.
Bob.
Darryl,
Im gonna look around I might have one from an old Hi8 cam .They are as Bob said pretty much all the same , if anything the older ones have more buttons for thing like index marking etc.
but I know all the functions of the same button that are on the Z/FX cams are the same I use any one of three I have.
I can probably send you it if you want.
Yes, RMT841. I also have an RMT811 which came with my Sony Mini DV Deck, and this seems to work just as well - record / pause / stop, zoom in & out, VCR controls.
Gentlemen (and ladies?): Thank you. I will attempt to locate the RMT-841 and post if it comes up. Someone else is bound to crush, lose, de-fabricate theirs as I have.
Just be thankful it wasn't the camera!
I can reliably report Z1s do not bounce well at all therefore do not leave then on the top of a car and let someone drive off in a hurry.
Bob.
Ah! Guess the FX would bounce just as firmly. Shortly after I got mine I fell with it mounted on a shoulder pod down some stairs . However I kept the FX in the air while skidding towards the long drop to the beach and the only equipment damage was to the headphone cable. My cuts and bruises healed in a couple of weeks!
Like I say Serena, Medicare covers you but not the cameras.
Still it again shows just how dangerous being a camera person is, way, way too many have come to sticky ends.
I'm told that's one reason many networks still send out a sound guy on news shoots, not so much for the audio but to watch over the cameraman.
Actually that reminds me, I saw a vest designed for cameramen somewhere with a big loop on the back, just for someone to grab you before you fell down a manhole.
Bob.
>Actually that reminds me, I saw a vest designed for cameramen somewhere with a big loop on the back, just for someone to grab you before you fell down a manhole.<
..........no......I cant say it,...... too tasteless.....and it wouldnt be directed at you Bob.......But Im LMAO right now....
Actually the camera wasn't running -- it would have been interesting because it's always difficult to precisely remember one's actual trajectory! I was looking around for the next angle instead of watching where I was putting my feet.
I have some footage somewhere of a hang glider coming in for a landing. The pilot comes straight at me then yells "lookout!" as I scrambled for cover! Sometimes in the midst of a good shot you just kind of forget where you are!
