Don't be too hard on yourself, anyone who earns a living in this industry is more than entitled to at least one dummy spit per month.
I made a decision 20 years ago not to get into the industry for much that reason, somehow I have been drawn back into, bad karma somewhere I think. At least now I have the wisdom of age to know the value of accumulated experience. I listen to what the pros tell me, many times they don't know the reasons behind things, they do know what will work and what will not because they've been there and tried it.
But many times the amateurs who don't have to earn a living from it or meet deadlines push a boundary and find new ways to do things and for that they deserve encouragement. In return though they should be prepared to do the hard yards of studying and learning.
I see far too many issues raised in forums and not just this one and not just about video, where the answers are easily to be found with a little research. If you do that for yourself you gain understanding. You don't get that from someone just telling you which button to press.
d1editor - Thanks for coming back. Now STAY with us! - You've got far, far too much expertise not to share it [ if you wish ] - at least with this "Learning Curver!" - I read your comments on the DVD thing - Nah worries matey! I wasn't part of it so no problemos here. Blowing off is essential - this stuff can really be annoying and sometimes, well almost for me, I gave up doing any more NLE stuff. I was continually getting Blue Flashes on PTT - since when I've - fingers-crossed - solved it. Now having a system, maybe a little slower on heavy 4 plus track renders, has brought me back to life - Knowing I can film >>> Edit >>> PTT for others to see has recreated my wish to continue. Y'know, if you work in the "Industry", you have a ready "call-on" your talents - for me, working mostly outside the biz, I have to rely on my canny approaches to get what I want to do, to pay for itself - And yes, an important part of this activity is finding a techno/sharing forum that I feel can both add to and ask questions of - This and other fora [forums? ] is my opportunity to "mix" it with like minded people AND pros who are in the Biz - I regard YOU as one of them . . . thanks for coming back!!!
Farss - Yup! You about summed me up to a "T". Using VF>VV3 and now V4, I'm getting new and daily self-recognition what I can do with my Canon XM2 and V4 - My annoying habit is "Enthusiasm over Brevity" - hope this don't annoy others - well I suppose after my years on this planet I aint gonna change anyway . . .
Anyways . . . just downloaded ACID XPress 3.0. I wanna get my head 'round that for a bit.
I don't think I was around for the blow...but it happens. Everyone has good days and bad. I typically try to have good days when doing my stuff, but somedays....I think the moon is just in a lower orbit or somethin!!
Hey Grazie....if you are just not getting into Acid (SoFo's that is)....I have been using it for years and find it is a great little application - very powerful in the right hands. That combined with Sound Forge (which got me on the SoFo path back in the earlier 90's) makes for one great PC Studio.
I do all my audio work with Sofo products - have have some of my stuff play on national radio (The Dr. Demento Show) and did all the work, editing, and post production of my last two projects with SoFo apps.
drop a line if you run into any issues. But hving worked with Vegas Video...I don't think you will run into anything you haven't already seen. Vegas Audio and Acid are pretty much interchangable (if you know what yur doing). Vegas Audio is the multitrack "mixer"...but if you do it "right" Acid can work just as well.
Yo - kameronj! Thank you . . . will take up your offer when I'm a bit further forward. I really am no muso. But I think the loops and stuff will give me something go further on with. - "National Radio" woah there K! I did string double bass at school, tried out with a simple jazz trio - not much since then . . . .
