In case anyone is interested, I have placed my Pinnacle DC10pus analog capture card and Studio 8 software for sale on e-bay. I liked the capture card, just don't need it anymore.
I tossed my Pinnacle Studio 8 in the trash. Manuals, CD's etc. They went to that big dumpster in the sky. :)
Sony's Vegas Movie Studio is fantastic! The problems I had with Pinnacle Studio 8 do not exist in Movie Studio. Keep up the great work Sony! Now I am happily editing, instead of figuring out new workarounds.
I whole heartedly agree about Studio software. I gave up on it after a couple of months of trying to get it to work. Found Movie Studio and haven't looked back or regretted the change.
Movie Studio is like the energizer bunny... it keeps working, and working, and working...

P.S. I have a bid on the card and software on e-bay. The capture card is well worth the $9.99 USD that has been bid.
I know this is a VEGAS MovieStudio forum and that it is popular to bash Pinnacle Studio 9 Plus and other earlier versions but I, for one, want to acknowledge that Pinnacle Studio does have some features not available on MovieStudio. I use them both. Very successfully. I experience none of the crash and burn scenarios that are so commonly reported in this forum.
I find that having and using both (and DVDA2) provides a level of functionality that neither alone can provide. Allows for materially expanded creativity. A great option for me.
I am glad that Pinnacle has worked for you and wished it had for me as well.
What frustrates me the most with Pinnacle, their software and support is that the whole problem came down to my having a VIA chipset on my motherboard. However, Movie Studio worked for me right out of the box using the same hardware and software that Pinnacle had problems with.
I asked Pinnacle a couple of times to provide me with a list of hardware and software setups that Studio 8 would work with right out of the box without having to use work arounds in order to get the software to work. All they had to do was to provide me with high, medium and low end system specs from their test systems. I thought that was a simple enough request.
Pinnacle never responded to my query, which leaves me with only two conclusions. They either don't care about the few hundred thousand people having difficulties out of the millions of users or there just isn't such a machine available.
And it burns my butt that Pinnacle keeps throwing in our faces the "millions" of happy users and leaving the rest of us to try and figure things out through their forums. Also, Pinnacle's advertising policy should be called into question. Advertising the number of Emmy's their software has won on their Studio 8 box is very misleading. I seriously doubt that Studio 8 or 9 has won all those Emmy's, maybe their high end software, but not 8 or 9.
That being said, Studio 8 did have a neat feature that I will miss. That was the ability to create music to the exact length of the clip needed. Other than that, I will not miss Pinnacle software at all. I liked the capture card, but that was all.
Well, time to get off my soap box, turn my thoughts to a happier and brighter future and to wish you all a very Happy New Year!
