that's awesome. I'm sure it could be done in any 3d app, but the idea only a handful of people can now do what an entire team of people did years ago is amazing!

Great technical achievement.

But the real jewel is the story it tells!

I wonder if they shot for the comp first and 3d to fit or 3d first and use as story board for shoot

Either way a bit slow in the beginning but as the story developed so did the pace
Really enjoyed the way the guy did quick application of textures to the buildings but when it came to the one flower
It needed more time and effort

Very inspiring..thanks for the pointer

This film (I loved it -- very touching) was originally released back in February. It was created by Bruce Branit, who was one of the two guys that created the fantastic short "405" way back in 2000, when such an effort was really pushing the envelope for what a couple of guys could do on their home computers (if I remember correctly):

There is a Facebook page (you don't need to be a member) with background and behind-the-scenes stuff about World Builder:

Some of the recent posts indicate he is trying to develop the short into a feature length film. Dig through the other posts to find links to behind the scenes stuff (shot lists, photos, interviews, etc.)
