OT: Intel Quad-core running Vegas

Thought you all might be interested in this article, which says that a 4-processor chip will be coming out from Intel around the first of the year. A test system built around the chip is not only significantly faster than the blindingly-fast Conroe (dual core) Intel chip, but also the article used a Vegas render to compare the two systems. Dual-core Conroe: 381 seconds needed; Quad-core: 255 seconds needed. That's a pretty significant difference, and I'm also glad to see Vegas getting some well-deserved attention.

Just when you think technology has evolved about as far as it can go, someone blows the doors down (again).

thanks for the heads-up .. I'm trying to figure out how long to wait before upgrading my 2.8 Ghz asus p4b mobo-based system to run vegas renders faster... if I can see a 20-30%+ increase in render speed, then I'll upgrade ...

I don't know much about multi-core systems and what speed increases, exactly, vegas 7 running under win2k would have if any ... render tests would be great to see from someone....

maybe even sony, if they'd work on vegas more..
