OT: Internal drive sale

For those in the vicinity, Frye's Electronics (I was at the one in Burbank) has a special going on 500GB, 7200 rpm SATA II internal drives, 16MB cache" for $99. I had heard that Seagate bought Maxtor, the box is a Maxtor OEM box, and after buying one, on checking the diagram on the drive (says to remove the jumper to enable 3GB speed), I saw "Seagate 7200.10" printed on the label. It's running very quiet.

It's $20 more, but still a pretty good deal at CompUSA for $109.99

If I were certain that the drives I would receive would actually be the Seagate 7200.10, I would have ordered the maximum of 5 allowed. I currently have about 40 of them, including eight 320 gig 7200.10 drives that have been running 24/7 in my server for well over a year now.

I like Samsung's Spinpoint drives, have bought a bunch of these this year with great satisfaction. They're quiet, fast, come with 3 yr. P&L warranty, and have great reviews everywhere I've seen.

Zipzoomfly has the 500GB drives on sale for $99.00: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=10005376&eml=071007
