OT-ish Windows 7 thumbnails

1) Windows 7 shows video thumbnails in a frame looking like a film.
This makes the useable part of the thumbnail smaller - and is bad when you are used to see and drag videos directly from explorer to the Vegas timeline.
Have searched for hours - found nothing. Have anybody found a way to get rid of the superfluous frame??

2) Windows 7 does not use the first frame of the video for the thumbnail - but a later (random?) frame.
This is unuseable if you are used to put just one single frame (special pic with some text) in the beginning of each video to be shown in the thumbnail...
Again have searched for hours. No cigar. Any ideas??

3) If Windows 7 wants to be so changed that the video thumbnails become unuseable - any idea of a program that can be used instead of the new Windows 7 explorer??

This appears to be the same behavior as in Vista. I just set the thumbnail size to large. I doubt it is a random frame, but probably a couple of seconds into the video. Most programs, including in Vegas' Project Media, will not show you the first frame of the video as quite a few videos fade from black or fade from transpararent which would make the thumbnail useless!

Adobe Bridge is a good alternative.
