OT: its a sad, sad day...

PDB wrote on 3/11/2004, 3:01 AM
Today Spain has suffered what is probably the biggest act of terrorism in its history: three trains/stations have been hit by bombs placed by the ETA terrorsit group causing a massacre. No offcial figures of casualties have been released, but they will be in the dozens, not to mention the wounded..

It is a sad day...

Sorry about this post, but I live in Barcelona and have lots of friends in Madrid (where the bombs were placed) and I needed to express my disgust at what has happened here...

If you have a moment, please say a prayer for the families of those who have died and for those who are wounded.

All the best and keep well...

Paul.

PDB, I'm sorry to hear of this. It didn't hit our local paper this morning. What a senseless tragedy. I wonder if we'll ever know a world without terrorism.

Just woke up to the new this morning here in California. After the initial shock wears off, find the joy in life and keep moving forward. Don't let the bastards get you down.

I hate to see tragedies like this hit anywhere. We are living in some perilious times. I hate to sound like a preacher here, but those things where predicted long ago by my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I will continue to pray PDB. Hang in there. God bless you all.

If you are referring to the book of Revelations, the predictions were actually made by the Apostle John. See this link for a discussion: Revelations Introduction

Terrorists are vandals taken to the extreme. Having no capacity within themselves to create anything good, they focus on destroying what others have created. With vandals the destruction is of art or architecture. With terrorists the focus is on destroying lives.

These types have been with us throughout history - unfortunately they will be with us in the future. My thoughts and prayers are with our friends in Spain.

It is really sad that so much evil can come from so few. I have offered my payers for the victims who are with their God now, and will continue to pray for the families they left behind. Don’t let them shake your faith.

Yes, for me there is only one God. And for me there is only one savior, Jesus Christ. That doesn’t mean that people who don’t believe in my savior or my God are any less worthy than myself. So I said it that way strictly out of respect for those who don’t share my (and your) belief of one God. I still pray for them just the same. ;-)

One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter.. This act as well as others we here in the states are familiar with are the result of others who believe they are fighting for their freedom..
Un fortunately these people feel that civilian targets should be their target of opportunity because they in actuary do not have the ability either logistically or financially to conduct operations within a theatre of war against an opponent especially the US.. Oh well Im rambling on.. PDB We as Americans can not only empathize but sympathize with you.. My regards..

And I wish I could speak officially on behalf of all the victims...but of course I can't......I have not found the strength to post again up until this time, but let me tell you that although I personally am among the fortunate (neither friends, nor work colleagues nor my sister, brother-in law nor niece-who live in Madrid have been directly affected phisically by this terrible ordeal -as far as I know), your words have brought me to tears during the day. Not only for your support, but because many have endured a similar pain in recent past. I personally very much appreciate your words.

The perpetrators of this infamous act are not yet clear (as opposed to my initial statement) but that is of no consequence today. People will still cry and suffer tonight...and tomorrow...

Thank you everyone for the support. I will pass on your thoughts to those I know.

Peace to all,

Paul.

I've got a rough idea what you are going through PDB

I live near Port Arthur in Tasmania and a few years back a gunman went crazy and shot 36 people dead: men, women, children, he didn't care. I knew two people at the historic site while it happened and the gunman actually went to a friends place asking for her but thankfully she wasn't home and survived...

I didn't personally know anyone who died there but everyone in this small state were in shock for weeks...

Don't know what I can say. I haven't got a religious bone in my body, but just wish you all well and hope this sort of shit doesn't keep recurring :-(
