ot: jpg converter / resizer?

any suggestions for a batch converter / resizer?

i know, could write script for ps, but all i want is to resize a huge amount of camera snaps to a more manageable size, and convert them to png in the process?

PS has a batch converter system.... or at least mine does.

Irfanview or Xnview.

Both are free and very good at batch work.

i'm starting to like infraview. Does PS still have actions? I always found that useful, but in all honesty I'd rather use infraview to do stuff like that. smaller footprint & easier to use for that purpose.

You can also try FastStone Image Viewer 3.5: Tools-Batch Convert / Rename
It's free.

Leave it to me to find the cheap way to do anything...
How does free sound?

Irfanview for me. Also free.

so, downloaded them all, and settled on faststone - does exactly what i need without fuss....

thanks for the other solutions as well.

ps has always had actions, and i've used them extensively in the past, but this time round i thought just clicking on something would be so much easier (getting incredibly lazy!).

now, all i need is a prog that would have the photographer frame properly in the first place.

i usually give my clients the choice of working with the pics they supply, or allowing me some time to clean / crop / etc., them before i use them. once they've let me 'play' they always leave them for me to clean up. this job is from a new client and has started out with 100+ so badly shot hi res digitals that i'm NOT offering to do anything!

thanks again

I don't know about you but I have found that badly shot photos to me is perfectly acceptable to the client. It drives me crazy because I keep wanting to fix that stuff and it is hard for me not to because I don't want someone to think my work is bad!!
