9" prompter solution

I just ordered a teleprompter for my shoots (got tired of "talent" that wouldn't learn what they needed to say for their own videos) I'll tell you guys what I think of it when I get it. I have some work coming up with some of the guys that are notriously bad about not learning their lines, so I bit the bullet and bought. Came out to be just over $900 with an added battery system for it. It comes with software for prompting, and a fresnel lense to magnify the 7" LCD, to a 9" display on the 60/40 glass. The LCD is composite input, so I can use it as a field monitor also (for Jibs and the like).

I'm just happy to not have to fight with having papers for the talent all over.

I've got that exact unit, and it's very nice. Just used it tonight on an 8-hour job. Text is a bit small; they have a fresnel lens for magnifying the image but I need to get longer rods to raise the unit up higher before I can use that. With the fresnel the text is plenty big.

The prompterpeople gear is excellent and it's a great value; other companies charge $2500 for a comparable system. And their support is top-notch too.

they seemed very helpfull on the phone. I ordered the bat. pack, but I'm probably going to order the remote for it in the future here. I just wish I had a hassle free method of running the software to the screen. Having to lug around another computer is ok, but a little clunky.

Either way, I'm happy to have a teleprompter now, and this one seemed to be less hassle and packing/unpacking than many.

Don't think it was their product but I've seen one that runs off a PDA, might have been from ezprompter. They were at NAB 2005 but not this yeat and they're not returning my emails so they might be defunct. Their web site is still up at: http://www.ezprompter.com/products/index.html

Their stuff is pretty cheap but you've got to supply the laptop whcih gets turned into the display for the prompter.
