OT: JVC set to release HD DVD Player

Sorry if this is old news - I'd not seen anyone mention this in the various discussions on HDV delivery that I've followed on this board.

I thought this was kindof exciting (even though I don't care for JVC equipment) because one of the big stumbling blocks HDV seems to have is in the content delivery side. While you can certainly deliver via a PC, it's a pretty cumbersome approach for most people. Having a set-top DVD player that can play WM9 HD content seems like a great idea.

I will end up probably having a red, blue, and whatever other color they come out with. One good thing is the backward compatibilty and the upconvert.

it is not a JVC really, it is the IO Data Machine which is already being sold in some countrys and now JVC picked up the distribution on it ..

The pictures on JVC web site dont even say JVC, but IO DATA

IO data also makes equipment for others on a OEM basis - but those players were all their own ..

I was wondering why sony or someone had not marketed something like it - but since it doesnt have HDCP (well it used to not have it) , they may have wanted to steer clear ..
