OT: Kinect the dots and night vision

I know I'm not the first to do this, but after getting an Xbox Kinect recently, I had to do it for myself.

At night, with all the lights off and night-vision mode on my Sony Handycam, you're able to see millions (my wild guess) of infrared dots all over the room and yourself.

Not great quality video but was fun to do:

And maybe tonight I'll try to count the dots to see just how many of those things there are...

You can also see IR from any of your remotes. You can see this through most cams though... but the cams with ir ability are much more sensitive to it

Interesting... I have a back-up cam on my van with IR ability for night driving and they throw off an incredible amount of glare when seen through the Sony cam. I have the cam on the roof of the van looking down ( i use it mostly for keeping an eye on the various trailers I pull) but I often wonder that if I positioned the IR beams directly around the license plate.... would that be enough to blind those dang red light cams ;)

"You can also see IR from any of your remotes."

True, but I just thought it was cool just how many IR dots the Kinect was shooting out!

Darn, I thought that this thread would be about editing in Vegas with a Kinect. The Kinect PC SDK is about to be released to the public by Microsoft, so it is plausible.
