OT: LCD Monitor - Reflective Screen or? - 720p or?

I'm about to buy two 23" LCD monitors for use in editing video's.

I'm looking at a cool HP model 720p but it has the reflective screen... colors look great but worried about the reflections...

There is another brand... same size but 1080p and it does not have the reflective screen... it is the more traditional LCD non-reflective screen

Both are $249 each.

1 - What do you guys think about the reflective screen LCD monitors vs the more traditional LCD screen?

2 - Should I insist on 1080p or will the 720p work fine for the next year or two?

Thanks for any help.

1) I've used both and don't really have a preference. I keep the lighting in my edit suite reasonably low.

2) When you say "1080p" and "720p" are you talking about video monitors or computer monitors? All computer monitors are progressive and, strictly speaking, there really isn't any such thing as a 1080p or 720p computer monitor. In the 16:9 aspect ratio, they are generally 1280x768, 1440x900, 1680x1050 or 1920x1200. Go for 1920x1200 if possible.

I'm talking computer monitors.

I guess I'll have to go back to Office Depot and read the specs they have posted again...

The reflective screen LCD computer monitor is the HP W2338H ...

The traditional screen unit is a Viewsonic vx2260wm... and I see not that it is only 22" as opposed to the HP which is 23"

They both show 1920 x 1200 native resolution... but they have the HP labeled 720p and the Viewsonic marked 1080p...

Who know's where they get these spec's.

Thanks again John for helping me get back up to date and back on board.

I use a non relective screen to avoid reflections which are annoying - but I have a window behind my desk the monitor sits on - Like John mentioned - it will depend on the lighting in your room which will be best.

I prefer reflective because I like the look. I have two windows to the left and behind me. I have blinds on the windows and can control light for the most part.
