Cool! Nice little story, nicely produced. Where was this filmed? The city looks vaguely familiar to me.

oooooooh!! Ahhhhhhhh!!!

Me likey.

Ok - so what kind of camera and what film? ASA and the like. And of course - what film lab? Did you scan the negatives yourself or did you scan prints and than color correct. Kind of ironic that it won a "Best Cinematography" award because you don't always think of stills as "cinematography" but you've translated still into moving images very nicely.

I like the sound as well - for sure it would add to it. I think most people really don't get the whole sound design thing until they see somehting with nothing. There was a time when people would ask what exactly I did on "all those films" and I would just hand them a tape of a film and say "Turn down your sound and watch this. Than go back and turn on the sound. That is what I do." I don't do that anymore because really people don't (and didn't) bother to watch more than 3 minutes of something with no sound unless they "have" to.

EDIT - PS - the thing that made me uneasy was the guy attacking the girl - not so much the attack part but the following part. Been hearing more of this stuff on the news with the iPOD headphones and how people who have those white headphones are big targets in the city.

Very Nice work Patryk, i remember seeing it once before , the story is truly well told and shot. I wouldnt be suprised if some camera Co. didnt want to scoop it up.

I enjoy all your movies and enjoy your style and messages!

It was filmed in southwest Brooklyn, NY and southwest Queens, NY.

Filmy, if I recall well he shot it using a Canon 20D which is a Digital SLR... Would cost a ton of money using film..

Edit : Technical details here : http://www.patrykrebisz.com/articles_filmmaker_summer2005.html

I LOVED IT!!! - VERY ORIGINAL, AND JUST PLAIN COOL.

Quick "?"

I am assuming that the shots were done with some type of BURST buffer frame mode (thus contributing to there not being any long "shots" from any particular angle)?

Thanx.

I'm sorry but I felt it was much more interesting without the soundtrack. Thanks for posting, though -- good to see you're around, getting work done.

I like this film a lot and the new soundtrack is a big improvement to the camera shutter sound you used before. I always turned that off. Her running off in the same direction as the attacker is still a problem though. Reshooting that so she runs in the other direction would seriously improve that key moment. Congratulations on the awards.
jlafferty wrote on 12/26/2005, 9:56 AM
Actually, that's probably the most surprising, and pleasently original idea of the whole film, IMO (outside of the production method). I had to grin and chuckle that she ran after her attacker AND kicked the "hero." It's a nice reversal.
Patryk Rebisz wrote on 12/26/2005, 8:49 PM
Yeah, it's more like jlafferty suggest. It was intentional for her to run in more or less similar direction as the atttacker -- in the chaos of the moment.
