Letterman’s Top 10 for the iPad (which will be in Apple, Best Buy, and Radio Shack stores starting tomorrow):

10. What the hell is it?

– Late Show host David Letterman’s top 10 questions to ask before buying an iPad

I don't think there will be any iPhone-sized lines in stores tomorrow. The customers that eager have pre-ordered, of course some for pickup at an Apple Store.

Apple Germany pre-ordered 70,000 iPads for their launch day a month from now I think. When they looked up from their order form, they had 250,000 pre-orders.

Think if the iPad as a gallon tub of ice cream. It shouldn't sprout USB ports or any kind of cables, it shouldn't have OS file folders (only application user folders where needed), it shouldn't require any training to use, and it should be much more robust than a laptop or netbook.

It is not a "computer."

It is a consumption device that can also be used to do some work with its Keynote (Powerpoint but better), Pages (Word but easier to use), Numbers (Excel for simpler stuff) etc. apps, where you can use the onscreen keyboard or a wireless Bluetooth keyboard in front of the iPad leaning on a backfolded case (that's designed for that).

If it takes off, I'll be selling a lot of video rendered to look its very best on that gorgeous LED screen.
Let's hope Vegas gets a one-click iPad setting for convenience, the world is moving very quickly right now, and even jaded pros look for simplicity.

(Sorenson Squeeze 6 has done this extremely well, with even a preset exchange full of user-developed presets for just about anything, and accessible from inside Squeeze in an organized way. Totally fabulous, and this would be very good for Vegas to copy!)
