You can easily create a DVD that loops using DVD Architect. Set the video's End Action>Command to Loop and voila.

Are you asking about how to loop a video, or are you asking about the display hardware used to display and play a looping video?

See above post by bops.
One thing though, if it's a short video you'll likely quickly wear the DVD player out. So duplicate the video on the T/L so get around 1 hours worth. That'll nicely fill a DVD 5 so that the heads only move once per hour.

If you want HD looped I have a HDD MediaGate, works a treat, plays most file formats, it's relatively cheap even after you add your own HDD although we've had it play out HiDef WMVs from a USB thumb drive.

Well... both I guess.

I didn't know there was a "command" you could embed into a DVD rendering that a DVD player would see and constantly loop the video...

I thought this was a hardware option in some DVD players... but actually this is the start of my research so I haven't looked yet.

And... we want to know some common hardware used in public environments for looping video.

Thanks for the help.

It's not in the rendering, it's in the authoring.

Yeah, you can force a loop when authoring. But as Bob suggested, you want to have mutliple versions on your DVD. Otherwise, if it plays the same space over (especially a short video) it will "burn" a hole in the DVD and stop working.

We normally use digital video players with no moving parts. A little more expensive, but nothing to wear out.

Can you suggest some 'digital video' players for us to look at.

I was also wondering if any monitors have a USB slot for such.

thanks.

We use Alcorn McBride Video player and I think Adtec makes some mpeg players.

As I said above the Mediagate MG 450HD works fine for me:

Should cost under $250. Factor in a SATA hard disk of size to suite.
It's a bit twee and the menus can be a bit slow but you only need worry about that while you're setting it up. I bought the unit with all the bells and whistles, you might get by with a cheaper unit without all the i/o options.

The Pioneer http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/195253-REG/Pioneer_DVDV7400_Industrial_DVD_Video_Player.htmlDVD-D7400[/link] or http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/BusinessProducts/ProfessionalDVD/ProfessionalDVDPlayers/DVD-V8000?tab=DDVD V8000[/link] are good choices if you want an interactive
kiosk.

These units allow a http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pio/pe/images/portal/cit_3424/386698078AN152530_DVDPlyr_NextWindow-Touchscreen.pdfTouch Screen[/link] to be connected or "arcade push buttons"
with programmed dedicated functions like "Play Track 2" to control the
player.

Scheduled playback is also handy for "daily specials".
