OT: mics - ever use sanheiser mini plugs on Sony UWP C1?

Looking to use an 899 with my UWP C1, only thing is that I was told that sometimes the "FET"'s are not compatible - FET, WHAT THE HECK IS THAT!?!? | Anyway just wondering if anyone has any experience with this, and/or if they know if the FET compatibility is a REAL issue.

field effect transistor. Who told you that? I'd be surprised if they weren't. It's pretty rare these days. Call Audio Technica in Ohio, they'll be able to tell you.

The FET shouldn't be a problem, but isn't the AT899 available with a TA3F plug? I thought the Sony had that type of connector.

The UWP C1 comes in a locking 3.5mm 3pole mini plug - That's what I know.

The guys from Ohio (Audio Technica) were the ones that told my supplier about the FET problems with the TA3F to any other adapter - "HAS TO" go through the enclosed adapter, that's like 5+ inches long to XLR and then from XLR to what ever I want - something about the biasing was mentioned too. We're talking a pretty big bunch of stuff just to adapt it to the Sony UWP C1.
