OT: Mint condition GL2 for sale

Hi guys,

I hope this isn't against the forum rules here but if it is I apologize. I did search for other people selling stuff though I didn't see many I thought it would might be okay.

Anyways I am selling one of my Canon Gl2's so I can buy me a new cam and I am in a hurry because it won't be available for long. The GL2 has been used less than 6 hours and kept in the original box when not in use. I have a 5 year nation-wide transferable warranty that still has 4 1/2 years on it, has all original manuals, cables, software and original box. I will include my other GL2's basic battery and a leather carrying case. I bought this for $2799.00 plus the extended warranty in January (I know I paid allot for it but I needed it fastat the time) and I am willing to let it go for $1750.00 plus shipping.

I purchased mine new for $2,000 within three months of release (I actually ordered it for cheaper, but they "required" more add-ons to ship, and I cancelled my order). I paid about $2,200 for another one (for my company) the day it shipped.

I love my GL2 (having shot over 40 videos products on it so far (including 9 corporate videos for GE--and it hasn't been out that long) and would highly recommend it.

I love my XM2 [ UK version of US GL2 ] ! 3CCD, it's light and looks unobtrusive . . . the picture quality is truly stunning. Sharp, full colour quality with a range of manual adjusts that will keep me going. A nice big rubber focus ring, which has excellent resistance, very smooth.

This with my Vegas 4 - I'm a very happy camper!

I rented a GL2 for the last wedding I shot and loved it. The color quality was excelent and I loved the top handle to get low shots.

However, I can get a new GL2 with extras for about $1800 US. Besides that, I can rent it for a weekend (3 days) for only $90. I would only use it for professional shoots, and I can only do about 4 weddings a year so it just isn't worth it to buy right now.

I do recommend this camera to anyone who is looking for a 3 CCD camera. It is the best one out ther for the money.

One thing, this Canon GL2 has problems with the built-in Audigy firewire card--which does not appear to be 100% compatible. The print to tape function will stop within a few minutes.

However, the camera works fine with a standard $59 pyro or other firewire card.

You really have to watch out for some of these all in one type multimedia cards like the Audigy. They try to put too many I/O features into these cards but use cheap components to do it.

If you stick with firewire cards with NEC chips, you uaually can't go wrong. The GL2 I used worked fine on a generic $20 1394 cards with an NEC chipset.

I love my GL1 and would probably gow with a GL2 before buying an XL1s. I'm not convinced bigger is better in this case...

I am looking to sale by next week if possible. Jessariah you are write about the quality of the GL2 it is an exceptional camera that's why I have two of them, It actually has a better lense than XL1s's basic lense in my opinion plus a longer zoom. But I like the flexibility of the XL1s and it dosen't hurt to impress clients with a big camera like that either. The GL2 has a more neutral color density than the XL1s (it tends to produce slightly more reddish colors) and better Frame Movie in my opinion. The GL2 definitley rocks!

Hey guys--look into the Panasonic AG-DVX100 which has REAL progressive frame mode. It's a little bigger than hand-held but will create 24p footage that V4 edits natively. AND has XLR inputs inside the camera body.

I haven't shot anything with the DVX100, though I have shot on higher end Panasonic cameras, and generally like them. Does footage from the DVX100 look THAT much better than the GL-2 (which I also like)? As for the XLR connectors, I (personally) don't use audio from the camera as a rule. I was considering buying an XL1s or a PD150 next year, I've logged a couple hundred hours on both and I think they're both great. Should I really be considering a DVX100?
