The JVC monitors will always be cheaper than Sony monitors, both pricewise and otherwise.

The Sony monitors are really robust workhorses, I don't get the same feeling with JVCs.

Good choice Grazie. I just ordered 4 of them for our student edit suites (and the 9" field monitor as well.
To CourseDesign, they were $675 (CDN) each. The best my Sony rep could do was $1800 each :-(
Even if they only last 1/2 as long as the Sonys, I'm still further ahead.

All right then, at C$675 you got a fantastic deal!!!

Rejoice and don't blow the entire difference on wine, women and song!

:O)

Thanks Mike. You are really underlining my buying decision. I agree, if this monitor should last 5 to 10 years - no reason why they shouldn't - I will be very very far ahead AND be able to purchase other equip .. . 9" field OR that matte box I'm pining and lusting after! HAHAHA!

I really can't wait to get my system connected to this puppy . . ..

What, Coursedesign, you DON'T have enough money left after your Sony purchases for such necessities as " . . wine, women and song!" - you poor lad . . life isn't always about buying equipment . . . sometimes it IS about using it! ;-)

Gosh....monitors monitors monitors.....

Got three in front of me right now....plus an NTSC monitor to my right....

A 15 inch in the back room and another 19 inch on the floor right now.

Ya... turn them all on and ya feel like Kirk on the bridge of the enterprise. LOL

Vegas and the dual monitor set up....if ya haven't done it...go do it...you'll never go back.

Hello Stan,

I do have 2x17" Samsung flatties setup for dual Vegas Editing; a tiny TV line/signal monitor; a cheapo 15" TV monitor for final "proofing" that the thing plays as it would on any plain old TV and a 15" Hantarex, which is going to be superseded by this JVC. It is the desire to have a really gorgeous Vegas Previewing monitor that has set me off on this most recent odyssey.

Best regards,

Grazie

Stan still looking..

Shame on you Grazie :-)
You're looking all round for a place to post your edit suite pics and you completely overlooked the DMN forum. There was a thread just a short time back asking for edit suite pictures too. Now go do it so we can all see the "Monsta" :-)
