That's pretty amazing IMO. That freakin tiny little bulb is kicking out THAT much light is crazy good IMO. I'm sure things are going to only get better, but still, that's pretty amazing.
RF excitation of a capsule of an inert gas, such as argon or helium is actually old technology. Ham radio operators have known for a long time that a fluorescent bulb can be lit up by holding the lamp near the transmitting antenna.
But, the price is likely to be very high because of the RF generator and amplifier needed to excite the plasma.
