OT: Moving files

Archiving files to several swappable hard drives to free up space on the RAIDED (and crowded) drive I use for backup.
The smaller files transfer readily, but with some of the larger files the transfer is stopping and I'm getting a message that tells me there is not enough server space to process the command or some such thing.
There is ample space on the destination hard drive.
Any thoughts on a solution to this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Do a search on the "crowded" hard drive for files < such and such file size (smaller files) and then drag those over to the new drive. Clear out your temporary files and then start moving the larger files over after the smaller ones have been moved.
