I use MP4 FastStart all the time on my Sony AVC files that I deliver via the web and it seems to work fine.

"Does the "Web Optimized" check box in HandBrake completely cover the index issue?"
Yes.

"Any known issues to be concerned about?"
In very recent tests, MP4 Fast Start degraded Youtube playback.

"Anyone have a preference between these two?"
No experience with IndexSwapper.
AoA MP4 Patch is doing a good job here.

That's interesting. I haven't used it for YouTube video because I thought that YouTube re-encodes the video anyway so no need. Maybe I should stop using it and start using AoA MP4 Patch?

Cool. I'm getting into the HandBrake methodology but the last time I used it, I forgot to check the "Web Optimized" box. (I didn't realize how important it was).

Thanks for all the HandBrake testing & experimentation you guys have done.

JR, If you upload to Youtube without using a fast start utility, it is really OK, just that YT will wait until the video is completely uploaded before it starts processing (understandable).

With fast start, the processing begins almost immediately after the upload begins, and runs concurrently with both ending at nearly the same time. Can be quite a time saver on a large upload.

An important issue to note is if you host your own files - without a reindex, files will not play immediately.

I learned that the hard way...

Ah... I didn't think of that. I uploaded 24 videos the other day and I waited for each one to completely upload before processing. :(
