OT: Music teaching tool for children?

Hi,

I just found out my niece is taking guitar lessons. (electric).

I want to get her a good book on music or guitar for Christmas. Book or CD, what ever you think a nine girl would be into. (Her uncle got her into the Go-Go's last year.)

******** Further off-topic
I'm listening to this Wanda Jackson Tribute and this song is killing me. I didn't know the song or the singer beforehand, but it's soooo goood. I know a lot of Wanda Jackson's uptempo rockabilly stuff, but this one is a beautifully sad waltz and it's singer's voice is incredible.

The Box It Came In
performed by Anna Fermin's Trigger Gospel

My clothes are all ragged my goodwill coat's not the best
And I'm a walking on cardboard in my last dollar dress
I looked in the closet for my wedding gown
But the box that it came in was all that I found

He took everything with him that wasn't nailed down
Bet he's got a new sweetheart to fill my wedding gown
But somewhere I'll find him then I'll have peace of mind
And the box he comes home in will be all satin lined

__________

There are several good female voices on this album from
performers I already knew, but this is the one that
jumped out at me.

Almost a one word sum-up of humanity. Almost.

About your niece: Get some DVDs of great pickers. Albert Lee, to name but a few.

TorS, the guy didn't have the take the wedding dress. That's pretty low.

Albert Lee.
I think that might be above her. I don't want to scare her off just as she's beginning.
