OT: My Movie "For Love & Stacie" Now Available

MUTTLEY wrote on 9/12/2008, 12:26 PM
Whooo Hooo!!!!

So some of you may or may not know that I made a little indi called "For Love & Stacie". And yes, everything was done in Vegas! It won best picture in one fest and the audience award in another. Been sitting on it for awhile and FINALLY got distribution. Tickled pink that it's finally available even if I didn't get the Blair Witch/Open Water theatrical that I dreamed of!. Cool thing about B-Side that's doing the distribution is that people can buy the DVD or the download but if someone buys the DVD they get the download for free. Obviously every little bit helps so appreciate anyone who might pick it up. Also excited to hear what you folks think once you get a chance to see it! There's a trailer on the page as well if you want to give it a peek.

"For Love & Stacie"

And a huge HUGE thanks to everyone here on the forum, couldn't have made it without ya!!!

Ray, CONGRATULATIONS!!!

From awesome music videos to indie films. Is there any limit to your talent? Seriously. You know I respect your work highly. I love the trailer... great concept for a film. Where can we get the DVD?

Wow, I didn't even see the BuyIt button there. They should make it more obvious.

Ray,

Congrats on this. It's no small task bringing a feature across the finish line. Hope it does well for you.

Thanks KH, seriously didn't know if it was gonna get any further than my hard drive and the few screenings it did. Apparently getting them available and getting people to buy em are two different things entirely! So I'm piddlin around doin what I can. Would be great if some of the regs here would give it a watch and give a little review (without spoilers of course). Can't wait to get some feedback from you folks, considering ya'll got me to where I am. =)

Easy to understand, story did not jump out and make me feel the need to see it. Congrats would be in order for finishing it but doesn't seem any different from nearly any other plots in movies today. Best of luck to you and hope it did not cost a lot to make because it looks to be difficult to make any real coin on it.

oh honestly patrick.

Are you just trying to be a real jerk?

The concept of a romantic story is not new, and hasn't been for ohhh, I don't know, about forever. Just out of curiosity, how many feature length films have you finished, or how many music video awards have you won from your productions? Last i ever heard, you are doing teaching for video in a H.S. and that's a great thing to be doing. I hope you don't rip on your students like you rip on people here, that would certainly crush a lot of ambitions from students that could go on to be great film makers or successful small business owners in the field of Video Production.

I'm not the forum police, and I'm in no position to tell you what you can or cannot do, but I'll tell you this, if you were in my house and acting like you are here, I'd ask you to leave until you can get your attitude straightened out.

Really, p@mast3rs your sinking to new levels of low. Wasn't enough that ya spam the forums with your trash but now your going to attack me and my work personally and without provocation. I would KINDLY ask that you remove your post from this thread and the other:

http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=614885&Replies=10

I will not let this slide and I will not under any cicrumstance stand for you stalking me around the forums denigrating me or my work simply because you didn't like what I said in an entirely different thread. I can take critisicim, but not from some douchebag with hidden agenda.

Wow.
Just "wow."
Someone finishes a film, gets several awards and accolades from festivals and critics alike, it was shot for a fairly low budget, has a good story relative to the times....and you only have "congrats for finishing but I don't think it's worth anything?"
How did that script you were auctioning off do? What about the feature you were shooting when your hotel got robbed? Or the documentary the man was making with your camera when you donated it? Or...
Remember all those AcidSex posts when you were gonna tear up the world?
Point being, I can remember reading about a lot of dreams and starts here, but not so many "finishes or awards."
Patrick, I think you're out of line here. Even if you have finished better/bigger/more successful pieces of work, you're out of line here.
I think we all know I've got a big of brass on my shelves, and Ray has my utmost respect for his work.

Muttley,

Congrats on the accomplishment! I myself am working towards such goals and its great to hear when a true indie gets picked up for distribution. The playing field has really flattened and opened many doors of opportunities.

Mutt - all the best man, congratulations! I just ordered my copy of the dvd.

I'm with Spot on this - there is a big, big, BIG difference between doing what you've done - finishing a movie, getting awards and accolades, getting distribution - and just wishing and dreaming about it and not slugging through the barriers and walls, whatever they may be. Real or imagined.

Teachers (as a whole) are important, no doubt. But I'd rather just have lunch with someone who has DONE IT, rather than be "taught" by someone who merely has a great idea for a script.

GREAT JOB. I'm impressed.

I just noticed this thread. Congratulations!

A word about B-side. I really like what they are doing. I saw a movie a while back at a festival. I kept watching for it and eventually they went with B-side for distribution.
It happens to be this one: <a href="http://www.bside.com/films/bloodcar"> "Blood Car" </a>

That was the first contact I had with them. I bought the DVD, which also entitled me to the hi-rez download. While waiting for the DVD, I did the download and burned a temporary DVD from it. The quality was quite decent. They also let you buy, say, the lowest download, and then later apply that money to the purchase of a higher rez or DVD. Quite reasonable.

One wish for B-side is that they had better ways to search, like most popular, or by ratings.

Muttley, good wishes with your film and future activities.

"Mutt - all the best man, congratulations! I just ordered my copy of the dvd."

So, that was my comment on this thread back in September 2008. Yes, I did order the DVD. And it sat on the DVD shelf until a couple of nights ago.

Did anyone actually watch this movie all the way through to see if he gets the girl? This is a great movie! I imagine we've all been there, guys at least, when you call the girl and ask if she wants to do something this weekend and she says "yeah, maybe....I'll call ya" and you hope she does, but you know she won't. And he gets it all on film, the uniquely human condition of unrequited love. But do they get back together in the end? Ya gotta watch.
Two Thumbs Up.
