OT: My new voiceover box (thx Spot)

Following directions I learned from Spot's video, here's the vo box I just created this morning ... I used velcro for the attachments, and that's my AT 3060 in there on a desktop boom stand.

again, thx to Douglas Spotted Eagle, and Jeffrey Fisher, Harlan Hogan and everyone else here on the forums, for helping me get to a new quantum leap forward in my a/v life ... it's great going from raw rookie, which I was 18 months ago, to a lot more seasoned understanding of all this stuff - it's great!

thx,

ken

That voice over box is really nice, I've got 2 now, one at the job and one home, I love the fact I can hang the disassembeld pieces on the wall to get a less resonant room.

Please explain the need for this and results? I can see maybe this would be nice to filter out unwanted computer fan noise? Any other benifits?

FYI, Here's a tip for creating nice hyperlinks on this forum:

<Xa href=http://www.CopywritingUniversity.com/vobox1.jpg>VO Box Photo</aX>

Displays as:

Delete the X on each end, needed to put it in to get text to display.

hi Jim, thx re links, I was wondering how to do that...(updated links above, thx) ... yes the v/o box should provide better sound isolation and keep background noise, and room ambient/reflective noise, to a minimum.

V/O boxes reduce the amount of room reflection, therefore all but eliminating the "boxy" sound of the recording. This is particularly critical for folks using their shotgun as a v/o mic. Additionally, it provides an isolation from computer noise and other noises, and finally, it also gives the v/o artist instant feedback on their vocal style, allowing them to tweak their performance without having to rewind/listen, etc. Plus, with the way it breaks apart in the format that I designed the eventual box that Ken built and modified, it becomes a great tool for killing reflections on a wall when you're not recording but rather listening to your mix.
Great pix, and LOVE that mic!
